The focus is on a young girl called Yoshika Miyafuji, an average normal girl who one day learns of her fathers past and is drawn into the conflict with the Neuroi, she comes accross as a somewhat shy girl but at the same time she has the detirmation to help others around her and better herself, and as shown in this series she demonstrates this by showing courage and conviction in the face of the enemy. This is mostly a slice of life story centering on the various girls that serve in the Strike Witches, that also contains some drama and some mild character conflict between the battles, and the team bonding that occurs during them. But you have to remember that the storyline of the series and the characters make the series very entertaining to watch and lets be frank anyone who has seen either the trailers or some episodes online can't be shocked or disgruntled on what's in the series itself. The basic story is you have alien invaders attacking most of the world in a seemingly 1940's era setting and so to defend humanity from these invaders young females are enlisted who have powerful magical abilities to fight these unknown monstrosities, of course there is more to the series but just is the short basis of the series itself.
